About Milton
Where are the bungalows in Milton?
Milton grew fast after 2000, and most of its newer neighbourhoods were built with two-storey homes and townhouses. So in town, bungalows are mostly in the older core. Old Milton has wartime and postwar bungalows among its century homes, and Timberlea and Dorset Park have a few as well. Outside the urban area, the picture changes. Rural Milton West, Nassagaweya, Trafalgar and the hamlet of Campbellville have many bungalows on large lots, often with views of the Niagara Escarpment.
What should I know about buying a country bungalow in Milton?
Out in the country there is no town water or sewer. Water comes from a well on the property, and wastewater goes to a septic tank and bed in the yard. Before your offer is firm, have a septic contractor pump and inspect the tank, and have the well checked for safety and for how much water it delivers. Free bacteria test kits are available through Halton’s public health office. Ask how the house is heated and which internet services reach the road, since both vary a lot between country properties. Land-use rules are stricter here too. The Greenbelt and the escarpment plan cover much of north Milton, so a new barn, pool or addition may need Niagara Escarpment Commission approval. Land near streams and wetlands falls under Conservation Halton.
What about bungalows in Old Milton?
Old Milton puts you within walking distance of Main Street’s shops, restaurants and the summer Saturday farmers’ market. Milton GO station is close by too. Many of its bungalows are small and older, on mature, tree-lined lots. Some buyers renovate them, and some rebuild. Some Old Milton homes are on the Town’s heritage register, which adds steps before a demolition, so check with the Town before you plan a teardown. A careful inspection matters here: look at the wiring, plumbing, roof and foundation, and ask whether past work had permits. Our home inspection guide covers what to ask for.
Is a Milton bungalow a good place to downsize?
It can be, especially if you want space or a country setting without stairs. Check the entrance steps, the laundry location and the main bathroom, since these decide how easy the home is to live in over time. A rural bungalow brings more upkeep, such as a long driveway to clear and a septic system to maintain. If you want less of that, compare Milton freehold townhouses or Milton condos, which are closer to shops and the GO train. Best for...
Best for Resale Liquidity: Beaty
Beaty has the deepest current market surveyed -- 26 active listings and 17 closed sales in the trailing 3 months -- meaning less risk of an illiquid resale.
Best for: Investors who want an exit option -- a deep resale market when it is time to sell.
Best for Demand Momentum: Timberlea
Timberlea is absorbing new listings fastest of any neighbourhood surveyed -- a 0% sales-to-new-listings ratio, a sign of demand outrunning current supply.
Best for: Buyers who want to move before rising demand pushes prices further.
Best for a Fast-Moving Market: Dorset Park
Dorset Park has the tightest inventory surveyed -- 0.8 months of supply at the current sales pace, a seller's-market pace even at a $1,249,000 median list price.
Best for: Buyers ready to act quickly and decisively in a seller's market.
Best for Buyer Negotiating Leverage: Rural Nassagaweya
Rural Nassagaweya carries the loosest inventory surveyed -- 13.5 months of supply -- meaningfully more choice for a buyer than current sales pace is absorbing.
Best for: Buyers who want room to negotiate and more listings to compare before committing.
Best for a Premium, Patient Hold: Rural Trafalgar
Rural Trafalgar carries the highest median list price surveyed, $3,193,950, with a longer average time on market (84 days) -- a patient, premium submarket rather than a quick turnover.

Best for Cash Flow: Harrison
Harrison has the highest gross rent yield surveyed -- 4.0% (median asking rent against median list price, before carrying costs).

Milton FAQ
Where can I find bungalows in Milton?
In town, mainly Old Milton, Timberlea and Dorset Park. Outside town, Campbellville, Nassagaweya, Trafalgar and rural Milton West have many bungalows on larger lots.
Are new bungalows being built in Milton?
Very few. Milton’s new subdivisions are mostly two-storey homes and townhouses, so most bungalows for sale are older homes or country properties.
Do rural Milton bungalows have a well and septic?
Most do. Make your offer conditional on a septic inspection and a water test, and ask how old the septic system and well pump are.
Can I add on to a country home in Milton?
Usually, but much of rural Milton is in the Niagara Escarpment Plan and the Greenbelt, so an addition, barn or pool can need a Niagara Escarpment Commission permit on top of the Town’s building permit.
What is a raised bungalow?
A raised bungalow is a one-storey home set higher than usual, so the basement sits partly above ground with larger windows. It makes the lower level brighter and easier to finish.
