How to read this map

Price per square foot is the asking price divided by the size of the home. It lets you compare a small condo with a large one on the same footing. It is the quickest way to see which parts of a city cost more for the same amount of space.

A few things push it up or down. Smaller units almost always cost more per square foot, because the kitchen and bathroom cost about the same to build no matter how big the unit is. Newer buildings, lake views and walkable areas near GO stations cost more. Older buildings with larger suites usually cost less per foot, but check their fees: a lower price can come with higher monthly costs. Our guide on how to judge condo fees walks through that.

Use the map to narrow down where to look, then go building by building. The building directories for Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and Milton show each building’s year built, suite sizes and listings. For prices over time, see the market reports. Common questions

Where do these numbers come from?
From homes listed for sale or rent on the MLS® right now in Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and Milton. They are asking prices, not sold prices. The map and tables update each time our listings update, several times a day.
How is the size of each home measured?
Listings give size as a range, like 600 to 699 square feet. We use the middle of that range. That makes every figure here a close estimate rather than an exact one, which is why we show medians and leave out areas with only a few listings.
Why do smaller condos cost more per square foot?
Every unit needs a kitchen, a bathroom and a front door, and those cost about the same to build in a small unit as in a large one. Spread over fewer square feet, they raise the price per foot.
Is a lower price per square foot a better deal?
Not always. Older buildings often cost less per foot but can have higher condo fees or big repairs coming up. Compare the monthly fees and the building’s age too, not just the price per foot.
Can I put this map on my own website?
Yes. Copy the embed code on this page and paste it into your site. It is free to use as long as the credit link to The Condo Bar stays with the map.
