Oakville Condos: Best Neighbourhoods (2026)

Live listings, updated throughout the day

Oakville's condo market spans everything from the historic, walkable streets of Old Oakville to the lakefront calm of Bronte and the newest master-planned towers rising in Glenorchy. The right neighbourhood depends on what you're actually optimizing for — commute, lifestyle, or price.

Oakville's roughly 230,000 residents are spread across neighbourhoods with very different characters — a walkable historic downtown, a former fishing village, golf-course suburbs, and brand-new master-planned communities pushing north of Dundas Street. The right one depends less on "best" in the abstract and more on what you're optimizing for: walkability, schools, waterfront access, new construction, or a quieter commute. Below are ten of Oakville's strongest options, grouped by what each is genuinely best suited for, with links to a full profile of each.

Old Oakville — best for walkability and history

The town's historic core along Lakeshore Road, framed by two creek valleys and the harbour. This is Oakville's most walkable pocket — boutiques, cafes and yacht clubs within a short stroll of home — and its boutique low-rise condo stock is the highest-concentration in town. It borders Morrison to the east and comes at a real price premium for the location. See our Old Oakville neighbourhood guide.

Bronte — best for waterfront on a budget

A former fishing village on Oakville's west end, still centred on its working harbour and marina, split into Bronte East and Bronte West. Long a lower-cost alternative to Old Oakville, it's seen a wave of waterfront condo development alongside independent shops on Lakeshore and Bronte Roads, plus the ~6.5 km Bronte Creek Trail. Bronte GO (Lakeshore West) keeps the commute practical. Full profile: Bronte.

Morrison — best for waterfront luxury

Oakville's most exclusive lakeside enclave, with canopy-covered streets, half-acre-plus lots, and estate homes near Gairloch Gardens and Oakville Harbour. It's a walk to downtown's shops but otherwise a quiet, private setting — the trade-off for buyers prioritizing space and privacy over density. Zoned for Oakville Trafalgar High School, with several private schools (Linbrook, St. Mildred's-Lightbourn) inside its borders. Full profile: Morrison.

Glen Abbey — best for golf and mature family living

Southwest Oakville's namesake community, built around the Jack Nicklaus-designed Glen Abbey Golf Club — host to more Canadian Opens than any course in the country. Curving streets back onto the Bronte Creek valley and Bronte Creek Provincial Park's trail network. Families are drawn to top-ranked Abbey Park High School, with Bronte and downtown both a short drive away. Full profile: Glen Abbey.

River Oaks — best for schools and mixed housing

One of Oakville's most popular family areas, pairing detached homes and townhouses with the Oak Park condo enclave — including recent construction (Distrikt Trailside and its 2025 second phase) alongside established mid-rises like One Oak Park. Anchored by the River Oaks Community Centre and Sixteen Mile Creek trail system, with the Uptown Core's Walmart, Longo's and restaurants a walk away for many residents. Full profile: River Oaks.

West Oak Trails — best for an established, trail-laced setting

Bounded by Bronte Creek and Sixteen Mile Creek on Oakville's western edge, this family-oriented community is laced with trails (Sixteen Mile Creek West Bank, McCraney Creek) and anchored by the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex — a four-pad arena, library and Olympic-sized skating rink. Zoned for well-regarded public and Catholic elementary schools. Full profile: West Oak Trails.

Glenorchy — best for brand-new construction

Farmland until 2012, now Oakville's fastest-growing area and the town's first true high-rise condo stock north of the QEW, built around a "walkable urban village" plan. RioCentre and the Shoppes on Dundas cover daily retail, and a new high school at Sixth Line and Burnhamthorpe is due to open in September 2027 as the community continues to fill in. Full profile: Glenorchy.

Joshua Meadows — best for new-build variety further north

A newer alternative to Glenorchy, still building out north of Dundas Street around Neyagawa Boulevard with a mix of detached homes, towns and mid-rise condos. Brand-new schools and parks are going in alongside the housing, and a Longo's/Canadian Tire/Starbucks plaza on Dundas Street East covers everyday needs. Full profile: Joshua Meadows.

Central (Kerr Village) — best value near the lake

Sandwiched between the QEW and Lake Ontario, Central trades a chunk of Old Oakville's price premium for a shorter walk to the GO station and a genuinely local commercial strip on Kerr Street. Boutique condo development has picked up here in recent years, and Wallace Park and the Waterfront Trail keep the lake close at hand. Full profile: Central.

Westmount — best for commuters wanting lower maintenance

A master-planned pocket in Oakville's upper west end with smaller, lower-maintenance lots than the town's older core, next to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and the Glen Abbey Community Centre's pool and rinks. Quick access to the QEW, Highway 407 and Bronte GO makes it a practical pick for buyers prioritizing commute time over walkable downtown. Full profile: Westmount.

How to choose

Walkability and history point to Old Oakville; the same lakeside feel at a gentler price point points to Bronte. Space and privacy point to Morrison; golf and mature streets point to Glen Abbey. Schools and mixed housing point to River Oaks or West Oak Trails. Brand-new construction points to Glenorchy or Joshua Meadows. A shorter commute at a better price points to Central or Westmount.

Oakville has nine more distinct pockets worth knowing — College Park, Ford, Northwest, Southwest, Falgarwood, Wedgewood Creek, Bronte Creek, Palermo (West) and Joshua Creek among them.
